Ulstein Design’s most recent contract with the Astilleros de Sevilla yard in Spain includes design and equipment packages for two ULSTEIN PX105 platform supply vessels. EDT Offshore in Cyprus has ordered the ships.

“We find it particularly gratifying when a new customer turns to us for a specific ULSTEIN X-BOW® ship design,” says Tore Ulstein, deputy CEO of the Ulstein Group.

Ulstein’s NOK 240 million contract with EDT Offshore comprises design, detail documentation and main equipment. The equipment consists of main switchboards, bridge and control room consoles, ULSTEIN IAS™ (integrated alarm and surveillance systems), ULSTEIN COM® (integrated communication systems) and
navigation equipment.

Well equipped
“The double-hulled vessels are classed Clean Design, with comfort class V3, DPII dynamic positioning, 1,000 square metres of deck space and a deck load capability of 3,000 tonnes,” says sales manager Lars Ståle Skoge of Ulstein Design. The 4,700 DWT vessels are 88.8 metres long and 19 metres wide and have accommodations for 23 persons. The ships are scheduled for delivery in 2009.

ULSTEIN X-BOW®
“It’s nice to see that the market values Ulstein products and the development work we carry out. Ships with this backward-leaning bow sail more efficiently through head seas. Transit work is a typical activity for platform supply ships, and the future crews on these two vessels can look forward to comfortable working conditions,” Skoge says.

EDT
Established in 1980 in Cyprus, EDT Offshore specializes in tug and rescue work, underwater operations and pipe laying. The company upgrades and renews its existing fleet regularly. The two ULSTEIN PX105s will help boost EDT Offshore’s position as a modern and future-oriented shipping company.
