The bow concept X-BOW^® was first launched in 2005. The revolutionary new design with the inverted bow gained immediate interest from shipowners all over the world. The X-BOW^®, and the first vessel with the bow, the ULSTEIN AX104 Bourbon Orca, have been nominated and appointed to several maritime distinctions, such as the Engineering Feat of the Year 2005, and Ship of the Year 2006 and 2008.

Ulstein Group is turning visions into reality within demanding marine operations. The X-BOW^®, with its technical innovations, proves that it is possible to participate in creating ship history. So far, over ten shipowners have chosen ship designs with the X-BOW^®.  Nearly 40 ship designs with the 
X-BOW^®,  have been built in Norway, Spain, China, Brazil, Turkey, Dubai and Singapore.

From vision to worldwide reality
The bow concept originally was limited to offshore vessels (AHTS, platform supply vessels, offshore construction vessels and seismic vessels), but has also been introduced into the heavy offshore and short-sea shipping segments.
